Connect Alternate Video Source

I have an old e-Machine and have already replaced the video card once. I suspect its gone out again. Problem is I'm not sure how to troubleshoot the thing and can't remember how I did it last time. Is there some way to connect this thing to my laptop to at least access the stuff on my machine? The e-machine doesn't have USB ports. What do I need and how would I do it?

Re: Connect Alternate Video Source

Does the emachine have onboard video? If so, remove the video card and plug your monitor into the onboard plug.

Also one other thing. Emachines have had a lot of power supply problems. Remove all the cards you do not need to power it on and get video. Like modem, network card, sound card....

Re: Connect Alternate Video Source

Thanks folks but I'm not understanding what you're telling me. How do I get the HDD stuff out when I can't read it? Sorry, I'm not up to speed on this stuff. Can you give me dummy-proof instructions? Thanks again.
