Im looking to buy a new hp dv9500t series (customized) and it comes with a 383Md Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS. I know little to nothing about video cards and i was wondering if this video card will support most computer games coming out cause im quite the gamer. The other specs the computer has is Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7300 (2.00 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) 2GB Ram and 160gb hard drive. Will this computer be able to handle most computer games that are out/coming out. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

Re: 383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Hey - Welcome to TSF.
I see that the hp dv9500t is a laptop which can be a problem if your a Gamer. I would think about buying a Desktop computer as it allows easier upgrades in the future and more cooling solutions. As for the 8400gs, Its a Not bad card, but if your a Gamer looking to play most current games on max settings with all the eye candy on then i would look at the 8800 Series. Does it have to be a laptop that you buy? I ( And im sure others ) would suggest looking into a Desktop machine. |

Re: 383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
It has to be a laptop because im heading off to college and it will be more convenient to have. I could upgrade the video card to a 511MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS for 75 more dollars. And im not completely set on this computer im still looking. If you know of a better laptop to buy under 1400 dollars please let me know.

Re: 383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
I would look at the 8600M GT or even better the 8700M GT. But the 8600M GS will be a big improvement over the 8400M GS. How about this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220163 Asus wasn't nice enough to give you dual channel RAM, so I would pick up one of these if possible. If you can't afford it, get it at a later date. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227241
