Running SLI

i was just wondering if it's necesary with today's games to run the 8800 gtx in SLI cause from what I've read it seem like just one is overkill.

You are correct, it's overkill. The only thing running an 8800GTX SLI setup will get you over a single 8800GTX is bragging rights (atleast at this stage in the game) because there's no games out that can stress a single GTX (AFAIK).

would anybody know a rough estimate when games will catch up to the 8800 GTX

Well i know Crysis is coming out soon and that looks pretty Intensive. Id give it a year
