Recommendation Please
Hey guys
not really a support question, more of a recommendation from the gurus! currently using 128mb Ati Radeon 9550, running with 1gb DDR 266 Ram, P4 3.0 Ghz HT 800FSB Wanted to change gpu. Any recommendations for AGP 8x cards that aren't too expensive? thanks in advance! I'm concerned about bottleneck performance issues as well and heat issues as well. thanks in advance! |

Re: Recommendation Please
Hi,
![]() First, what is your budget? Also, what is the wattage on that Silverstone? If it is good like 550+w, then I would look at something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102093 Another good choice if you have the budget: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102071 Keep in mind an X1950GT is just an underclocked X1950 Pro, so if you get the GT, you will likely be able to overclock it to near Pro speeds.

Re: Recommendation Please
I remember from your other thread about case airflow and fan setup.
![]() My first priority would be to get a new PSU. For the X1950GT, I would look at the Antec Trio 550w or the OCZ GameXtreme 600w. I don't know of any stores in Malaysia, so I will leave that up to you. If you get one of those PSUs, you can easily get get an X1950GT or even a 7900GS or 7900GT. Those will be a good upgrade.

Re: Recommendation Please
Erm, ok i'm NOT TOO MUCH of a gamer, so i don't think i need a high end card. i was thinking of something more mid-range that would be sufficient enough for me to play some games (and that i won't get pixelation etc :p)
i don't think i'm going to change PSU because i JUST changed it

Re: Recommendation Please
What is the efficiency of that PSU? For that, I would only take a look at the HD 2600 Pro, which is very power efficient. But if that is a 70% efficiency PSU, then even that is pushing it a little.
