Re: Need help choosing a video card
Hi,
![]() That motherboard has an AGP slot. What is your budget and what kind of use do you plan for this card? If gaming, what games and how new are they? Also, what power supply did that computer come with? If it came with a cheap 300w like Acer usually puts in, you will need an upgrade. If you are upgrading the video card to something like a 7600GT or GS, you can settle with an Antec Trio 430w.

Re: Need help choosing a video card
i have a compaq fs740 and an acer 19' widescreen but im using the compaq
the 19' inch i really wanna use but i cant because the 800x600 res i have to use makes the game look blocky as hell and any higher res just lags me to hell Last edited by mosdef; 07-19-2007 at 03:37 PM. |

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
No, just plug in the new card and plug your monitor into the new card. The motherboard will recognize the the dedicated card.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
Hey matt
Just wanted to let you know that i installed the video card and power supply and everything is working fine. The video card is like 9 inches lond and barely fits in my case so i bought a ultra aluminus case so i would have extra room to work in for future upgrades but i cant get the damn motherboard out of my old case. Theres four screws holding it in and i took all of those out but it just wont nudge! ![]() Any suggestions on how to get this sucker out without snapping it in two? lol |

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
Only four screws? Check if there are more. Sometimes they are hidden behind heatsinks and such.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
I did a complete check yesterday and it just seems like its stuck in there.
It slides out about 1/2inch then it gets stuck Last edited by mosdef; 08-01-2007 at 01:14 PM. |

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
Remember, when removing a motherboard, you have to lift it up slightly as not to damage the traces on the standoffs. Then, pull it toward the front and bottom of the case and lift it out.
