Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
Looks good. I would look at the 65nm version of the 5200+ instead though.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
They are actually the same thing just with a different EULA.
The PSU, video card, and CPU look good. I always buy OEM versions for computers I build. XP MCE is good because it is based on the XP Pro platform but it includes (among other things) Media Center which is actually a very nice program.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
Keep a positive attitude. If you are calm and relaxed when building then everything will go fine.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
I know this is my own personal opinion, but I wouldn't go with the 500gb hard drive. They just don't seem too reliable as of yet. I know you can get great deals on 320gb, here in canada they are roughly 80-90 bucks and that's for SATA2, so in USD they shouldn't set you back too much.
As for RAM, I've never heard of G.Skill, so I can't say much about it. Looks like a great processor, and an awesome price point too. I just bought a AMD64x2 4400+@2.3GHz and it runs everything very smoothly so you shouldn't have any problems with that. Other than the hard drive, I don't see anything I can object to, but then again, that's my own opinion.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
Going with 2 x 250 GB hard drives will always be a better option than a single 500 GB drive. But currently there is really very little evidence to prove or disprove that larger capacity hard drives are less reliable. There does seem to be evidence however that the faster WD Raptor drives have slightly higher failure rates.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
I think a raptor drive for the windows installation is a good idea, if you have the extra bit of cash to throw into it, even if its just a 36gb drive.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help choosing a video card
Two of those look like good choices. The 320 GB and 250 GB Western Digital drives are good.
