8800 320MB vs 8800 640 MB

Ok i'm upgrading my PC and I want to go DX10, now i've read several benchmarks and they say that past the typical 1200x1050 or w/e res ram really counts. I run games at 1650x1050 or w/e. I was wondering if you were me, would you consider it worth the extra cash to get the 8800 640 mb, instead of the 320 one?

To be perfectly honest imo people pay way too much attention to their graphic cards, i mean, a decent 6600GT can run a lot of the new games, though obviously not the ones that run off the new DX10. I would never consider paying stupid amounts of money for a marginal performance boost - numbers, digits and benchmarks are on thing, but actually seeing a noticable performance boost is another.

320 will be fine to run all the newest games, even my 6800GT is capable of that and it's out-dated now.

MaverickUK has given you some words of wisdom that you should heed. Performance vs. cost is a very important consideration for most of us and i don't see a need to raise the cost of your usage by purchasing the 640.....It is IMHO very questionable what good going to the 640 would actually do for you in actual performance. The only upside of 640 is bragging rights (I have a badder rig than you do) and not performance vs. cost.

Well, after playing world conflict in low settings, at 30 FPS i'd come to want it in high settings with DX10 support.

You will need a new psu for ether btw what games are you thinking of an 8800 320 will get good fps at lower res and the 640 at high res what setting are you using?

I want to use as high as possible, and I already know about the PSU.

My res is 1600x1050 on 22 inch.

I decided on it, i tossed out the ram, and the mouse and went with the Evga 8800GTS 640 MB instead.

After doing more research and understanding ever more clearly that in my res the settings i'm using and what I want will require a GPU with more ram.

Nik, I'm also thinking about getting the 8800 (the 320mb GTS). Can you tell me what kind of temperatures and PSU voltages you get when playing at high resolutions? And how close does your system's requirements get to your PSU's 460W? ( power calculator)

Do you have any 3DMark results or fps for games like HL2, Prey, Oblivion, etc? Thanks
