The most stable drivers thus far from Nvidea is 84.21. Read the 1st post in the link below for the proper instructions on removing and updating the drivers. You'll also find a link there to download the 84.21 release.

Ok according to our resident driver tester the most stable 90.xx release is 93.71 so give that a try.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html

Also make sure you have the drivers for your motherboards chipset.

Could you also post some system specs CPU, RAM, make and model of your motherboard and power supply?

Go ahead and try the 93.71 and let me know how it goes. In the meantime I'll download your manual and checkout your Bios settings.

Re: Sli enabled... new drivers Nvidia 7900.... computer crashes...bluescreen

Ok bootup into "Last Know Good Configuration". You'll find that by hitting F8 to get tp the safe mode menu during post.

You didn't list the chipset driver version that you have, so download the latest chipset drivers 6.86

After you've got the latest chipset drivers downloaded uninstall ALL Nvidea drivers via the Control Panel. Use Drivercleaner to make sure they're all gone. If they are gone then install the 6.86 chipset drivers.
Reboot into VGA enabled safe mode after installation of the 6.86 drivers and reinstall the 94.24 drivers.

Make sure that you are have power connected to the motherboards PCI-E power connector.

Reseat both cards and make sure you have a good connection on SLI bridge.

Post back with your results.

I didnt see any instruction from their manual to plug in a PCI-e connector

Mine would do the same until I installed the very latest drivers. nVidia makes good hardware but their drivers are crap...

Sorry Douglas, I should have made myself more clear. Just above the main PCI-E slot on your motherboard you should see a 4 pin molex connector, like the one on a hard drive or cdrom. I believe your manual calls it the Extra PCI-E power connector. It supplies extra power the PCI-E bus when running in SLI. I believe it's mostly needed for cards that don't have thier own power connector, but it won't hurt to try.

I'm running of ideas and if this doesn't work I'm going to ask the rest of the hardware staff have a look at this thread.

Post back and let me know how it goes. Also, if you could give us the exact stop codes you get when it BSODs along with the file referenced.

Re: Sli enabled... new drivers Nvidia 7900.... computer crashes...bluescreen

My board has a 4-pin MOLEX connector for SLI use. Neither of my cards has their own plugs so I assume it's getting enough juice. Always plug in what needs to be plugged in.

Re: Sli enabled... new drivers Nvidia 7900.... computer crashes...bluescreen

You said it runs fine when you're not in SLI, have you tried each card individually in the main PCI-E slot to make sure it's not a bad card?

Can you possibly try the cards in a friends SLI rig to see if they give the same symptoms?

What Bios revision are you running? An update may or may not help.

I've put in a request for some other Hardware Team members to look at this thread, so hopefully we can get this solved soon.

Re: Sli enabled... new drivers Nvidia 7900.... computer crashes...bluescreen

Hi,
I agree with Mattlock - it may be a faulty card. Are the cards, by any chance, made by eVGA? They've had some problems with a batch of 7900's.

Re: Sli enabled... new drivers Nvidia 7900.... computer crashes...bluescreen

from a review:
Quote:
Cons: NONE. Just one word of caution. DO NOT USE THE CD DRIVERS. They are too old. Goto N'Vidia and download the latest. In my case Win 2000/XP 32 bit Series 7 graphic drivers 94.24_forceware_winxp_english to your desktop and install from there after Win XP finds the new hardware and asks for drivers.
As Mattlock asked, is the bridge secure? Try another one.
