ViVo and Xbox360?

Hello people,

Wasn't sure where else to post this mods feel free to move as necessary :)

Essentially i want to record from my Xbox 360 to my PC for video making purposes i have the HD2900XT which is ViVo enabled however i have no idea what to do lol, Obviously my 360 has component video and audio which i assume are the Red, Green and Blue cables. I have got a cable with my video card which has female R,G,B cables to an S-Video which again i assume goes into the back of my grpahics card i also have the ViVo cable which has a few different female cables but these are coloured yellow and black. Has anyone else done this or have any idea what im atalking about? :D

many thanks in advance

Re: ViVo and Xbox360?

Connect the XBox's outputs to the female RGB connector for the video card and use whatever recording software you prefer.

Re: ViVo and Xbox360?

kewl thanks buddy, i assume that S-Video doesn't carry sound? its not life or death as i can put music in the BG but do you know of any ways that will allow that? I'd rather not spend money tbh as its just going to be like a hobby really. Thanks for the response anyhow :)

Re: ViVo and Xbox360?

The component outputs that you are talking about should carry sound as well. The s-video should just be another option that you could use in place of the component if you wanted. Think about it this way, you are plugging in those cables in to you CPU instead of the TV you so you CPU gets everything you TV would includding sound.

Re: ViVo and Xbox360?

Component, the RGB cables, only carry video information.

Re: ViVo and Xbox360?

Sorry. My bad I guess. I have a rather funky hook up with my home theater. I guess due to all the wires going everywhere somehow I get away with just RGB from DVD/AMP to TV and still get sound from it. I did just check to make sure, and I do just have RGB cables from my AMP that I also use as a DVD to my TV. I do get sound when I watch DVD's on it. There may be something else going on though but I think I get sound from it.

Re: ViVo and Xbox360?

You must have some other cables connected as well. Component isolates the video for better quality and shrapness. No sound is carried over them. Is your DVD and Amp connected with a yellow, a red, and a white cable?

Re: ViVo and Xbox360?

First off sorry for the confusion. I am not expert and I bet I am missing something. For the person with the question you should listen to the others and not me.

As for my set up. It is pretty odd and I did it myself so there is probably a better way but hey it works for me. My TV has not sound so first off I have audio out from the TV to the Amp/DVD. I also run a Tivo, cable box, Xbox and Xbox 360, and Wii. Little bit of an odd set up. I have a component switch box that connects to the TV. Then the DVD, Xbox and 360 connect to it. The switch box does have RGB and I thnk WR as well. However, all that is attached to the amp becides speakers is the RGB out and WR in. I don't know why that works but it does for me. I do have the red and white for the x box and 360 though. I also use an optical cable that goes from the 360 to the amp. Maybe it is running sound through there. I don't know. Sorry for all the confusion.

Re: ViVo and Xbox360?

You'll need two things to simplify this... A gender changer that accepts RCA-type connectors and an RCA-phono cable.

Gender changer

RCA to 1/8" cable

Re: ViVo and Xbox360?

There should be a total of 5 wires leading from the main output of the 360. Red, green, blue, red, white, and yellow. Connect the RGB cables to the RGB inputs of the small adapter for your video card. You can use the gender adapter if the connectors of the input cable are male. If not, use the gender changer and connect the white and the nearby red to it, then use the RCA to 1/8" in cable on the other end and connect that your your sound input. If the video card's input block has red and white audio inputs you can use those as well.
