Pin XFX GeForce 256mb Help out

I currently have a Windows Vista PC upgraded from XP.
Anyways i am currently using an MSI Company---Nvidia Geforce Graphics card 128mb fx 5200 DDR 8X on my Original Intel SD Motherboard with 1gb of RAM which was purchased 2 yrs ago.
It perfectly works well no problem even though DDR graphic card is installed on a sd motherboard.

But now i am planning to upgrade my PC and going to Buy a new XFX 256mb Graphic card .

I am confused since there are 2 AGP Types of 256mb Available. Both are of 8X
I am looking to buy the new model XFX 6200 256mb Geforce DDR 2 TV DVI.
But there is an other model available XFX 5200 256mbGeforce DDR TV DVI.

It is better to put the 6200 which is the new in AGP but its DDR 2 so i am not sure it will work on my motherboard.
the 5200 is an older one and is DDR but i think it will work since i am currently using a DDR one without any problems as i have already mentioned in the beginning.

Please help me out regarding the 2 types oF 256 MB AVAILABLE
As i am not sure

ALL I NEED TO KNOW IS ----
WHETHER THE 6200 Model DDR 2 will work or not ?
and if the 5200 DDR model will work ?

Re: XFX GeForce 256mb Help out

Hi there, bradleyp
here is a link to the approved Nvidia cards for Vista...
http://www.nvidia.com/page/technology_vista_home.html

Although the 5200 will run Vista, it will not run the fancy graphics the way they should be displayed, if at all.
The 6200 however, is fine.
If you can afford a little extra, try to find a 6600 AGP.......much better!

Pin Re: XFX GeForce 256mb Help out

I still need much help .
According to u which one will give me better graphics performance on my PC SD motherboard.
I know the 6200 will be better on Windows Vista compared to the 5200.

But in my case remember that i have sd motherboard capable of 133mhz speed only and slow bus speeds too.

Inspite of that will it be better to go ahead for a DDR 1 graphics card or a DDR 2 one?
Since it doesnt make much difference in my case.

So I really dunno which one will perform better and fullfill my PC cause the shop guys tell me that DDR will be better for me since its SD motherboard.

But im not sure.

About which one i can go ahead and buy.

The XFX 5200 DDR 1 256mb or the XFX 6200 DDR 2 256 mb?

both are 256 mb but the main differences are speeds but Since DDR 2 is very new will it work well and not create problems for me.

OR IS IT MUCH SAFER TO GO AHEAD FOR THE DDR 1 OLDER MODEL.

Please help regarding this

Re: XFX GeForce 256mb Help out

Hi,
The XfX GeForce 6200 is a better card than the XFX FX5200 and will perform better on any board with an AGP 8x slot, and with the proper drivers.
It provides better quality, no matter the spec of your pc.

Re: XFX GeForce 256mb Help out

The RAM on the video card is independent of the RAM in your PC. It won't matter if it's faster or slower.
