PCI port feed issue
Okay so i have a Dell monitor i dunno what model exactly but it brings a AGP and PCI cable the blue and white one i've been using the blue one because for some reason when i plug in the white one it won't work when i first got it it worked perfect then one day it just stopped getting video feed the screen is black doesn't show that its not plugged in and yet it doesn't show any video.
i bought a 7800 GTX PCi-E card 2 of them and before i get them in my pc i just wanna figure out how im gunna get this to work i have a AGP adapter so that it plugs my AGP cable to my PCI but i haven't tried that yet. if any one knows how to fix this please do not hesitate to tell me. Re: PCI port feed issue
AGP and PCI are actually bus types inside of your PC. I think you mean VGA and DVI.
If the monitor has two inputs or more you'll have to tell it which input to use and then have the video card configured to output on that connector.

Re: PCI port feed issue
well supposedly on my monitor i can press the - button to change from different ports when i do this the monitor acts like its getting feed and when i unplug it it says the DVI plug is unplugged but im still getting no video how do i set it up to use DVI it's a dell monitor LCD about 15" on the back the model doesn't show up so well. Angalog Input works but Digital Input shows nothing and the monitor acts like its idled.
Edit: tried to factory reset and that doesnt help. Model: Dell 1704FPT Last edited by Edd01; 06-18-2007 at 08:22 PM. |

Re: PCI port feed issue
If you right-click on the desktop and select properties you'll get the control panel for the video card. Click on settings and in the box below the tabs you should have two blue boxes. One is solid and they other is semi-solid. Click the semi-solid box and click in the box below that says "Extend my Windows desktop to this monitor" and hit apply. Press the input button on your monitor and it should now receive a signal. If you want to use that as the default, go back to the other input and click the "Use this device as my primary monitor" box and click Apply. Hit the input button again and your normal desktop should now be shown over the other input.

Re: PCI port feed issue
As soon as the PC turns on you should start seeing things.
If you have a DVI->VGA adapter I'd plug that in so you can test both outputs using one cable.
