Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

Hi!

I have been having this problem forever and Its just terrible I hate it! It happens to whatever game I play (except sims 2) and sometimes happens even out of games when im just using msn or something.

My computer completely locks up or freezes, or it sends me to the blue screen of death. I have to restart. I can't do anything, even the keyboard is locked. What do I do? I'm not sure if its a graphics card problem but I looked all over the internet and it seems to link to that. I am getting a new card its a ati radeon X1650 Pro do you think this will fix the problem? If it doesn't I just dont know what else I can try.

It Could be anything really. Try this
Run you pc with the minimum amount of Hardware!
1 stick of RAM
1 HDD
Keyboard and Mouse
On-Board Graphics card
On-Board Sound card
CD/DVD Drive

Post your pc's specs and also post your results to see if the BSOD still occurs.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

Okay well I only have one hard drive. Do you think I should take some ram out? I have tried playing everything at minimum it doesn't seem to make a difference. The game I'm really trying to play now is fear. It started locking up more on minimum. I tried advanced aswell. So you recommend that I should take some ram out? Ill be left with 512 then I'll try that. I don't have onboard graphics! and I do run with onboard sound. But my games wouldn;t run on onboard graphics anyway.

Specs.

Amd 64
2.01 ghz
1 gig of ram
6600 gt
onboard sound realteck ac97

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

Just Run as little hardware as possible as this will help determine the problem.
Could you also try and post what the error is. Eg. (0000x001a) Memory Dump

You can run some tests aswell.
www.memtest86.com (RAM) Requires Floppy Drive
Go to your HDD manufacture and download their HDD diagnostic utility

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

Don't have a floppy so how should i try to mem test, someone else has mentioned that to me.

I have a seagate 250 gig drive. Tried to download and run their seatools but it came up with an error .net framework 2.0 needed.

About the blue screen . I'm not quite sure see that rarely comes up. It always different too. What usually happens is just the whole thing locks up. It doesn't restart, I am forced to myself.

I do know once in the bsod it asked me to try something with the graphics card. But not really quite sure, that rarely comes up.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

This is net framework 2.0 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
If the BSOD has different errors all the time you might want to check all your connections and power cables, Then backup all important data and format, windows may not of installed correctly the first time round.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

okay. I tried running on minimum hardware still happened.

I have tried different things for this error i have reformated three times with windows home, and proffesional. Still happened.

Is there anything else you suggest? Do you think it may be graphics card related? Since it only really happens when I play games... I just hate it so much

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

You could borrow a friends graphics card and pop it into your pc. If the BSOD dont occur then its ur Graphics card. If they still occur then it could be your motherboard.

On the BSOD does it say NV4_MINI.SYS near the bottom?

No it doesn't, but I just got the blue screen while playing sims! Which is worrying me, Its the only thing I have to entertain myself.

The error said this. Driver_IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and at the bottom a stop error wth lots of zero's I'll type them all out just incase they mean something to anyone

STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X00000000, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

THE END.

Keep in mind I do not think that that is the onlyerror I have seen, maybe me games lock up due to a number of things, anyone else have any ideas? Please help this is killing me

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

From what I've read up on this appears to be a RAM error. Try running memtest86 to determine if that's valid.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

You can also create a bootable CD-ROM or USB drive. If you get the Ultimate Boot CD you'll have everything you need. just burn the ISO using a program like Nero and boot with it in an optical drive.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

okay I ran memtest for windows and a couple of others ones from the boot cd. that doesn't seem to be the problem. Where should I go from here>

Also you closed my thread I posted in the other place. I put that there with the Driver_IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL because I thought different people would respond.

You said there was already a thread for it in hardware. First where in hardware? and secondly thats hardly my problem. Thats the first time I have gotten that error. It usually just freezes up and I have to restart. Can you please reopen that so I can get different Ideas from other people aswell on what might be the problem?

Thanks

It's actually easier to keep it to a single thread so that ALL the possibilites can be more easily explored.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

I think you may have Hardware conflicting with each other. Driver_IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL This usually means that there are two different types of hardware using the same IQR number. Try clearing your CMOS by the jumpers. This will reset all the IQR numbers. If the BSOD still happen you may need to set the IQR numbers manually.
ebackhus am i on the right track?

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

okay I'll try that. So you mean take the battery out and maybe leave it overnight or something?

I just want to know what information will I lose by doing that. Its a good idea though thanks I haven't tried it!

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

You will lose no information or data what so ever. Tho you will need to set your pc's clock again. Read your Motherboards manual and look for Cmos Jumper settings. Removing the battery does not always have the same effect as refreshing the BIOS by the jumpers.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 gt problems, or not?

I used to have this problem, whenever i play a game i get the blue screen or it just automatically closes. I opened my computer and cleaned the cooler, it was full of dust. It seemed to have fixed the problem I'm not sure about your case though.
