I cant figure out whats wrong with an older card

Well I bought a 3- D fuzion FX 5500 pci card for an older machine. Now the specs for the machine are :
CPU: 2.80Ghz
RAM:760
Graphics:256MB pci
now when i try to run F.E.A.R everything on low settings it still choppy is it a possible bug? Ive gotten the latest drivers (thanks Asian) no dice. No dust or anything. Seated firmly. Does the card just suck?

Well, your video card isn't the best. Try the game with the lowest settings (including the audio settings). Turn off all unnecessary background processes in Windows.

Tried that, but do you think killing explorer would work? a simple restart would fix it afterwards. Disabled services and such.

Re: I cant figure out whats wrong with an older card

No - do NOT "kill" Explorer. You could try an older driver, like the 84.21 version. Just remember to create a restore point (in Windows) and uninstall the driver you're using now first. Always install the nVidia drivers in VGA mode with antivirus disabled.

Re: I cant figure out whats wrong with an older card

I think you need a better video card and more RAM. Try an older game, e.g. Medal of honor and see if that runs OK.

Re: I cant figure out whats wrong with an older card

Wait, this card is PCI as in the older white slots, yes? That'll be what's killing you. The PCI bus may be fine for audio cards and such but is rubbish for high-end video.
