my HD woes. flickering

hello all

i have a HD monitor (see link below) connected to my 7950GT 512 via a HD cable i just bought today i have the cable plugged in to the HDMI slot on my monitor and on the graphics card its in one of the two DVI slots via an adaptor that came with the cable

now my problem is that with the resolution 1600 x 900 which i have used since i got this monitor with a standard DVI cable i get a huge amount of flickering yet when i change to 1280 x 960 the flickering goes away but that leaves me with stretched looking icons also i download 2 movies trailers for Mr Bean one was a standard trailer while the second was a HD trailer which i viewed in 720DPI and i could not see any difference at all, should i see a difference here?

please help me stop the flickering :(

Have you tried a dual-link DVI cable?

Re: my HD woes. flickering

Whats the Max resolution your Monitor can support. When i changed cables from a DVI to a 3-colour component i noticed that i gained some resolutions and lost others. While the ones that i didnt loose looked different from before.
I had a res of 1280x720 and it work perfect for the DVI but when i used the 3 colour the 1280x720 was stretched..

Also the flickering may indicate that you have set the Resolution higher than your monitor can support or the refresh rate is above 60

Re: my HD woes. flickering

I'm using a 22" widescreen LCD and a single-link cable. It's running at the native 1680x1050 just fine. 30" screens REQUIRE that dual-link cable for resolutions higher than 1280x720.

Also, if you're using an nVidia card don't use the 162 series drivers. The 94 series work best with current monitors.
