Re: Please Help!

PARDON THE CAPS (I'M NOT YELLING, BUT TRYING TO HELP YOU READ).

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE RESOLUTION HAS BEEN RESET DUE TO THE UPGRADE. IF THIS IS THE CASE, RIGHT CLICK SOME WHERE ON THE DESKTOP AND HIT 'PROPERTIES'.

CLICK THE RIGHT MOST TAB (SETTINGS) AND LOOK FOR A BOX CALLED 'SCREEN RESOLUTION'. IT WILL HAVE A #### BY ### PIXELS. DRAG THAT SCROLL BAR LEFT AND THINGS SHOULD SIZE ACCORDINGLY. HIT APPLY, YOU'LL HAVE 15 SECONDS OR SO TO CONFIRM IT OR ELSE WINDOWS WILL REVERT TO THE LAST CONFIG (SMALL FONTS).

YOU MAY HAVE TO ADJUST THE PLACEMENT OF THE SCREEN ON YOUR MONITOR AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE.

ALSO, IF YOU WANT LARGER FONTS, UNDER THE 'APPERANCE' TAB YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR 'FONT SIZE'

GOOD LUCK, AND AGAIN, SORRY FOR THE CAPS, BUT HOPE YOU CAN READ!

Re: Please Help!

OK everything was fine for awhile,I played CALL OF DUTY for a little bit,and then I installed a game for my daughter. In the middle of her game the screen went black and the monitor light went from green to yellow and I couldn't get a picture.I restarted my pc twice and still nothing,I restarted in safe mode and then restarted it again normally and now the picture is back, but I'm afraid to play another game.Does anyone know what could be causing this?

My System

Re: Please Help!

the video card may be overheating. what video card do you currently have? from that information, there might be a way to read the card's temperature using the driver.

Re: Please Help!

it sounds more like an underpower problem, did you check that you had enough power to run the new video card before you put it in
post your system specs including the power supply details from the label on the side of the supply

Re: Please Help!

I would thinkt ath 300 W for that system is going to be too little. I think the minimum Power Supply that is recommended for any system now is 400 or 450W. The TSF hardware guys can correct me. I've always found that with intermitant problems like this it usually is a lack of power that causes them.

Good luck!

Re: Please Help!

see if you can borrow a larger psu to try in it,one of your friends may have one that they have upgraded as power requirements have sky rocketed in the last few years and most have found that they had to upgrade and those are not worth selling and usually get thrown into a box

Re: Please Help!

It seems to be working better now,is there a break in period with video cards,so the pc and the card get used to one another.I got some kind of cleaning software, cleaned all the dust out,re-installed the drivers and re-installed direct x and it seems to be getting better,I can't explain it.

Re: Please Help!

no they should work correctly from install, did you use a can of air to blow it out as the air can reach places you cannot easily access to get the dust out
