[resolved]TV resolution
I have a Radeion 9250 PCI video card in my computer hooked up to our Sony LCD TV. But my problem is the resolution. I have it currently setup to 800 x 600 and the screen isn't perfectly fit. Plus its not as roomy as I wanted for a huge TV. Is there a way I can change the settings or resolution to make my computer fit onto the screen perfectly and look naturally in place?
Thanks Darkfox3393

Re: TV resolution
What size HDTV is it? If it is small (<40"), then use the resolution dai mentioned above. If it is larger, it is either 1280 x 720 or 1080 x 1920.

Re: TV resolution
Check in the manual for the native resolution. I would bet it is 1080 x 1920.

Re: TV resolution
Thats what I meant to put. 1920 x 1080 is what you should select. Does that work? If it doesn't, what do you see?

Re: TV resolution
Ok I used that and the screen was decently clear. But the problem is I don't know how to make it fit All on the screen. I have to move the mouse to the edge of the screen to make the screen move. So now it's clear but not all on the screen. Did that make sense?

Re: TV resolution
Yeah. When you do 1280 x 720, does it not all fit?

Re: TV resolution
It fits fine with 1280x720 but i can hardly see anything.
Oh btw. I probably should've mentioned this. My video card doesn't have HD. It's not set up on HDTV.

Re: TV resolution
When you say it doesn't have HD, what are you refering to? What interface are you using to connect the video card to the HDTV?

Re: TV resolution
All video cards are, even my wimpy integrated graphics. You should be using component video (the red, green, and blue RCA cables), VGA, or DVI. Otherwise, you are limited to 480p (640 x 480 @ 60 Hz).

Re: TV resolution
It is still outputing at 640 x 480 because that is the max composite video can transfer (either that or its doing 800 x 600 @ 30 Hz, which is really bad). What outputs does the video card have? I believe the Radeon 9250 has DVI, so you can use component video.

Re: TV resolution
Since this is an HDTV, I would use VGA. What inputs does the TV have? If it has VGA, you can use a VGA cable, but if not, I would get a VGA to component video cable like this one:

Re: TV resolution
Well it's not worth it to me to buy something for it. Would a VGA to DVI work?
And what resolution would i change to if I went with VGA to DVI?

Re: TV resolution
Unless it is a DVI-I port on the TV, you can't do it. DVI is digital and VGA is analog. DVI-I inputs have an analog and digital input, but these are rare. If you don't have a VGA input on the TV, you should get a component video cable like the one I suggested.
