Re: video upgrade
Hi, the Dimension 4300 has an AGP 4x/2x slot.
The GeForce FX5200 or GeForce 6200 are AGP 8x cards. I've read that they will work at 4x, but it's rather a waste. (Google for "Dimension 4300 Geforce 6200" and you will read for yourself). If you have a spare PCI slot, the 6200 PCI would probably work just as well as the 6200 AGP, without any issues. |

Re: video upgrade
Hi, yes, but you should enter your bios setup and set it to try the pci slot first to initiate graphics. You can do this while you have your agp card installed and it makes no difference. Just means the bios checks for a pci card first.
After the cards installed you get basic graphics until you install the proper drivers from disk or download. |

Re: video upgrade
Hi, I used a FX5200 PCI for a while and it never gave me any problems.
It get's a bad press because it's not very good at modern gaming, but I found I could play games ok with it. I also found no problems watching videos on YouTube or my own DVD's. Go for it. Forgot to add, there is not much of a performance difference between the 5200 & 5500, so if you find a big price difference go for the 5200. Last edited by Houndog777; 06-15-2007 at 04:24 PM.
