HP Brand Prob

Hey every1 wonderful site here. Well I have a big problem, well u see i bought this graphics card by xfx Geforce 7300 gs. But the problem is my computer is branded, its Hp DX6120 series microtower. So after i installed the graphics card nothing happens when i connect the monitor cable wid the graphics card.My comp has a intel internal graphics accelertor which really sucks. I am suppose to get an option in the bios to stop the current graphics accelreator but nothing like that is displayed. I dont really know wuts goin on.After I install the card the fan in the card moves. I even checked the card in other ppls computer(not branded) and it works fine.So I dont really know why it aint workin here. oh and my computer has ddr 2 533 memory, and the graphics card has 512mb ram.I am not sure if its ddr 1 ir ddr2 but maybe that may be the problem or somthing..........guys please help me out
Thanks.\

Idea Re: HP Brand Prob

TBH I think you have already identified your problem, you need to find that setting in your bios IMHO to turn off the onboard video and direct it to pick up the card.

OK being HP they haven't made finding the best manual very easy, and even though I suspect I have now found it they have made it hard going, but this as best I can make out is where you need to go to disable onboard video:
Quote:
Advanced*
(continued)
*For
advanced
users only
Device options
• Integrated Video (enable/disable) Allows you to use integrated
video and PCI Up Solution video at the same time (available on
select models only).
Mind you right under that they state:-
Quote:
Inserting a PCI or PCI Express video card automatically disables
Integrated Video. When PCI Express video is on, Integrated
Video must remain disabled.
Also check the setting under the following to make sure your new card is set to be the primary card:-
Quote:
PCI VGA
Configuration
Displayed only if there are multiple PCI video adaptors in the
system. Allows you to specify which VGA controller will be the
“boot” or primary VGA controller.
See if any of this helps, if not open the case to see the motherboard and take note of the red LED and if it flashes while trying to boot take note of how many times, and needless to say recheck the cables are firmly connected and that the card is seated fully.

Confused Re: HP Brand Prob

Nothing I'm personally aware of, but that doesn't mean someone may know better about that, but their manual certainly states nothing about not using certain parts, and it clearly allows for adding a card or they wouldn't of stipulated the above, but maybe someone else has dealt with something like this before and can shed some more light on it, there no reason I know of that it shouldn't work, but as a thought check your power leads, these new cards often require extra power either supplied directly via a PCIe lead to the card, or a molex into the motherboard, without this they wont work, well those that need it at least.
