nVidia Driver problem...[RESOLVED]

about 2 weeks ago i installed the latest driver for my GeForce FX5200 card, never been updated before i dont think.

everything seemed to go fine all previous settings seemed to be in order, i even thought my PC ran slighlty faster, but that was just me wanting to belive it was running faster lol.

anyway, when i went to go playa video, i couldnt see anything but a few blurry discoloured random bits on the screen for every video i had, so i went into the nVidia control panel and selceted video and television;

then the only choice after that;

then at this screen;

i changed the gamma as a lucky first guess and that fixed it.

i changed the gamma from -8 to +8 and clicked apply and my videos now play just like they used to.

BUT ive now discovered many times that after i restart my computer the setting go right back to -8 without any input from me.
at first i wasnt too bothered as i didnt watch a whole lot of videos, but now its just really starting to piss me off, mainly because it takes so long to laod the nvidia control panel and go to the next window thing.

So my question is how can i fix the default settings every time i restart my computer to their best settings? am i just not properly applying the settings? have i got some spyware thats preventing this??

thanks for any help :D

Re: nVidia Driver problem...

Seems to me that its some sort of bug in the new driver I would roll back to the old one if that was not giving you any trouble or ty another version.

Hi,

Try these drivers instead:

EDIT: Darn, too slow.

Re: nVidia Driver problem...

thanks for the replies, i installed an earlier version now, and so far it seems to be ok. although i have now had the return of a wierd blurry sections of the screen going vertically. in the monitors options i can adjust where on the screen these are in settigns called 'pixel clock' and 'phase'. i cant remember when i last had this as it was probably over a year ago. BUT i can live with it more than the annoing video problem
