Fisrt thing i need to know is the Memory Interface the 8800 is at 384bit and the 8600 is at 128bit. How much of a differnce in performance will this make if any?
And the stream processor what is that?
Also the 8600 has a higher core clock rate and a memory clock.. how will this impact on performance...
I can affored both cards atm but i want either the 8800 in SLI or the 8600 in SLi.. 8600 looks like a cheap alternative but will the performance be close to have two 8800's...
Thanks

Re: 8800 Vs 8600

From what I've read the 8600GT is severely lacking in performance. It would actually be better to get a cheaper and better performing 7900GS. The 8600GTS is the one you would be looking at for that price range.

As for SLI, it seems to be more trouble than its worth as the 8800GTX should perform as well without the driver hassles from SLI mode

Re: 8800 Vs 8600

The 8800 GTX is a massive lead over anything released yet. It even beats the $1000 G80Ultra when OC'd and it OC'd just as high.

It was a very good card and it did very well.
