Re: over heating at 79 C?

When overclocking you should buy an aftermarket fan/heatsink....
The current or stock fan/heatsink can only cool the card down so much..
I would advise you to stop the overclock before your graphics card gets damaged.. Then buy an aftermarket fan/heatsink then continue your overclocking

Re: over heating at 79 C?

ok, will do. do i need to just slap a fan on top, or get a new heat sink with a new fan?

I was thinking about getting a new card any way, beacause overclocked almost to the max is a little less than i want, any quick suggestions for new cards?

Re: over heating at 79 C?

If money is a problem then i would look for a Nvidia 7900GT or somthink close I currently have 2 Nvidia 7900GTO's in SLi and i will be upgrading to 2 Nvidia 8800 GT's soon..
If you have a PCI-E slot and money is not a problem then go for a Nvidia 8800GT

Re: over heating at 79 C?

Hello again Moocow. That's an agressive OC. See if knocking it back to around 500/900 doesn't help a little. If you're still running with the house fan, turn it off and se if you still get the artys with the lower OC.
Depending on the exact card you have you might be able to simply attach a fan to your existing heatsink.
As for an upgrade, what is budget? Also What PSU do have?

Matt
