monitor loses signal

Hi, I have had my computer for about a year now and every thing's been just fine until recently. I purchased a new lcd monitor after having a crummy old crt monitor forever. It appeared to be great for the first month. Now after I have my computer/monitor running for more than 20 min. my monitor loses the signal from my computer for one-two seconds the regains it. Every 30 seconds it loses the signal again for 1-2 seconds. This is very frustrating as you can imagine and makes it impossible for gaming. I reinstalled the drivers and that seemed to get rid of the problem for about a month. Now it's back and reinstalling the driver doesn't help one bit. Is isolate the problem and figure out if it's my video card or my monitor? If so, what can I do to fix it. Thanks.

Re: monitor loses signal

- Go to the vid card manufacturer's website and check for an updated driver.
- Try turning down the display resolution and refresh rate. Still doing it?
- If you have access to an extra vga or dvi cable (whichever you use) temp replace it. Still doing it?
- Does it only do it during playing a certain game?

Check the refresh rate as well. Some times windows will accidently change this.. Are you overclocking or anything at all?

Re: monitor loses signal

I reinstalled the driver, and that took care of the problem for about a month. Then the problem came back. I reinstalled the same driver again and that took care of the problem for about a week. Now reinstalling the driver does nothing to stop the problem. I am running at 1440 by 900 when i could be running at 1650 by 1050. My refresh rate is 75 Hz which is the minimum I can handle without getting a headache. No over clocking, and I don't have to be playing a game for it to start happening. Thanks guys.
