XP pro splash screen [RESOLVED]

Howdy,
I reformatted my HD, downloaded XP pro. Now when I get to the splash screen (That part is fine) the monitor clicks off and goes black. I go to safe mode and everything is fine. Everything looks updated (Firmware). Why would the monitor not work on regular XP but work on safe mode. I put another HD in and it works. The new one is 20 Gigs, the old 40 Gig.
Thanks

Hi,

This means you don't have the correct video driver installed. What graphics card do you have? You should boot up into safe mode and install the latest stable drivers for your video card.

Ditto on vid driver.
The resolution could also be out of range of your monitor.

Re: XP pro splash screen

Hi,
I spent some time on this. I went to the manufacturing site of the video card and tried to update drivers. NO luck. So after trying everything. I found an old dell under my work bench and took the video card out and it works very well in this PC. Go figure, an old PC from Tiger direct (Systemax) where parts are no good being replaced by an older dell that still kicks ***!
Thanks everyone. I’m sticking with Dell.
