Issues with XFX Video card.
Hello everybody:
I've just purchased a XFX Video card (GeForce 7600GT AGP) and when I plugged to my motherboard, an Epox model: EP-9NDA3J, my computer crashes sometimes and damages permanently the operating system (Windows XP-SP2). I've tried to format the computer but in the middle of the installation process it crashes and I have to start all over again. I've the latest BIOS version installed of the EP-9NDA3J. Also I've discovered that the amount of memory installed does not match with the ammount that appears on screen. I've 1Gb RAM and on screen appears 512Mb. I've reseated the memory modules and apparently it's functioning again. Do you think that one of the memory modules is damaged? because it's getting worse eveyday, at first only the OS crashes, after that all the videos and applications, and finally the intallation process. Today I'll try again with my old video card. I have 2 Kingston memory modules with 512Mb each. Somebody please help! Thank you and best regards. |

Re: Issues with XFX Video card.
Were there any problems before installing the new card ?
Good idea to try to get the machine stable with the old card. Then you could run Memtest is you suspect the memory is faulty. http://www.memtest.org/#downiso What is the make/model/output of the power supply? You will want to verify that your power supply is capable of handling the new card. Use a utility like Motherboard Monitor to inspect/monitor your temps and power output. If that checks out try the 7600 again with the old drivers cleaned out and the appropriate drivers installed. Make sure that you use drivers that are proven stable for your card. 84.12 would be a safe choice. I don't know off-hand if there is a recommended 90 series driver for that card. Make sure that aux power (if required) is connected to the new card. Last edited by jflan; 05-04-2007 at 10:20 AM. |
