Extended Desktop

**Please delete my other thread, I was meant to post here**

Hello,

Here's my situation: I have a computer with a motherboard that has an onboard video card, and that means there is only ONE output for video.

Is it still possible for extended desktop to work with some sort of video splitter?

Thanks in advanced

Re: Extended Desktop

time for a second video card if you are trying to run multi desktops. even pci cards now adays have two out puts. onboard video is really a convience and not meant for high end performance. i presume your machine has one open pci-e or agp port? the super mini atx boards sometimes don't and then your sort of stuck

Re: Extended Desktop

Hello,

Thanks for all your replies -- Yes, I do have an AGP port for an additional Video Card. I've just found a spare Asus V9520 Video Card, and I will try it out later.

I have a question about that card, the card has two ports -- One is for the monitor, and the other one is DVI (or w/e you call it), what converter would I need to buy from the shops to convert the 2nd white port into one that I can use for a 2nd monitor.

Also, My motherboard is MSI KM4M-L, and whenever I plug in a 2nd Video Card, the onboard video is deactivated -- How would I make this NOT happen?

Thanks for all your help.

Re: Extended Desktop

The DVI can be used on almost all LCD monitors. If you don't have a monitor with a DVI input, you need a VGA to DVI-I adapter. If one didn't come with the card, you can pick one up for a few dollars at a local electronics store. This is what it looks like.
