Graphics card/monitor problem
I'm not entirely sure which of those it is but, my screen suddenly cut out/went black (monitor was still on) then it had pink lines along the screen so i restarted my comp then when it had loaded up I tried to run a full screen program (WoW) and I got this message:
World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3D ecceleration. Please make sure DirectX 9.0c is installed and your drivers are up to date. so I figured since I was already playing it, it can't be out of date. so I uninstalled the graphics card driver, reinstalled it and its doing the same: my screen has loads of red/pink/blue speckles and whenever it redraws it takes ages and is choppy. The WoW part im not bothered about its more to do with getting rid of these speckles also if i have something white on screen (blank page in paint) it will show perfect until i move the mouse then it starts to bleed speckles. I'm not sure how to describe it. Grapics card is an ATI 9200SE Just ask me for what info you need. Thanks in advanced! Last edited by Martin_C; 03-31-2007 at 04:45 PM. |

Re: Graphics card/monitor problem
Hi Martin,
Download ATI Tray Tools from my sig and post the temps it displays. Also, please post all the info from the side of your PSU, including the brand, power output in watts, and the amps on the +12v rail (and how many +12v rails you have). In additon, please post the rest of your system specs: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...tem-specs.html

Re: Graphics card/monitor problem
i would suspect the ram on the card, see if you can borrow a card to try in it,or ask a friend to try your card in their computer

Re: Graphics card/monitor problem
To use ATI Tray Tools, right click on the system tray icon, and select monitoring graphs. See if it can read the temps. Unfortunately, many of the Radeon 9 series cards didn't have sensors.
It is either bad video RAM as dai said or an overheating VPU core. Since it is not a high end video card, it is more likely to be bad video RAM, but it is good to check the temps before getting a new card.

Re: Graphics card/monitor problem
Hey, I've had to uninstall the ati driver(so i cant use the ati tray tool), if I have it installed i just get blue screened and it said:
The problem seems to be caused by the following: ati2dvag The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop.... etc. So I went into safe mod and remove the driver after I got another blue screen telling me to run memory tests... My screen is fine now just choppy, now that ive said that it will start to mess up lol. |

Re: Graphics card/monitor problem
Which version of the catalyst drivers are you using? I believe you should be using 6.5. Also, have you tried the Omega drivers? http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...i-drivers.html

Re: Graphics card/monitor problem
Give those a shot, if they don't work, then the BSOD is being caused by a problem with the card, and the video RAM is most likely at fault.

Re: Graphics card/monitor problem
It is probably a problem with the video RAM. Try the card on another computer if possible, and if that computer has the same result, then the video RAM is definitely the problem and you can RMA that card and/or look for a new one.
