I got a new PCI video card from a buddy, and I installed it on my machine, and enabled the PCI primary in BIOS. but it gets to the Windows XP loading screen then it goes to a black screen. How do I fix this?

Re: New Video card help.

not sure what the power suply is. and i can't really know what all the sys info is right now. cause i'm not on the machien the vid cards being put into. but the new card is a gforce fx 5200. I installed the drivers from the CD enable the PCI video in the bios and when i boot up it gets to the Windows XP loading screen and the goes black when it gets to the log in screen.

Re: New Video card help.

did u uninstall the old drivers before changing the video card, if not that could be the cause of ur problem
try loading in safe mode, if safe mode works ok and u can get in, do a windows repair install and then install the correct drivers.

Re: New Video card help.

Hi again hellrogue,
Have you disabled the onboard video? I've attached hellrogue's Everest report from an earlier thread.

Re: New Video card help.

it is probably just requiring the video drivers installed it is a bit premature to suggest repair installs
