nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
Alright, I used to have an AGP 7600GS from XFX...
I'm looking at getting the 7950GT from XFX, the one with the huge cooler on it. My first question is this: Do you think that the price will go down any further than it is now? Currently the 7950GT from XFX is $249 on the egg. Also, how much of a difference will I see with the 7950GT v.s. the 7600 GS AGP model from the same company?

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
You mentioned AGP which all along I thought was dead but apparently not. This isn't the exact two cards you are comparing but a nice benchmark review with the 7600gs vs 7800gt. You can search around tom's site and find more info about how the 7950 benchmarks.

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
You will want an AGP card, not a PCIe card. Look at the X1950 Pro AGP. This is a good card:

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
Nope, AGP is still alive, but it's breathing its dying breath...you can still get up to a 7800 in AGP form....hence why BFG puts the phrase "The premium AGP solution" on the box of their 7800 (GS I think) cards. XFX and I think eVGA still has those too.
I'm assuming that I'll see a HUGE difference...but I'm worried a bit...do you think that the price will go down any further before its taken off the shelves?

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
The price of AGP will only go up unfortunately. There are some cheaper X1950 Pro cards that will still be better than the 7800 GS OC, but will be slower than the overclocked versions.

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
Oooohh no no no...I forgot to mention. I changed motherboards, hence used to have a 7600GS. Now I have a Gigabyte DS3 motherboard and I think that the 7950GT is the highest performance card that I can get that's not an 8xxx series and not a dual-card type thing. I will need PCIe.
So how will the prices be on the 7950GT in about...a month?

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
I would look at the X1950XT. It is $210 on newegg and has a nice rebate on it. The X1950XT will be a much better choice than the 7950GT.

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
I'm slightly lost because I have a Gigabyte DS3 motherboard and it's PCI-E x16.
As for prices, no way to predict but since people are really digging the new 8800's, that is good news for the previous cards but not until the 8800's take a drop in my opinion... I waited a long time to acquire my card. i just wasn't going to fork out crazy amounts of cash for a card that is eventually going to tumble. I'm not a gamer either though. Just like my widescreen to be nice and right and clear... well fast too. gotta play those you tube hi quality videos without major glitches, lol Quote:

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
Alright...I USED TO HAVE an AGP motherboard...I thought that was obvious.
I got a NEW motherboard, which is the DS3, it has a PCIe slot and not AGP. So, I need a PCIe card to go into the PCIe slot which the DS3 has. I'd rather not buy an 8800 series card. And I'd rather not have something like the 7950GX2 either. Can ya tell me why you think that the ATI card would be a better choice, even though it has lower specs in some areas? Mainly the fact that it has half the amount of memory as the 7950GT...

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
X1950XT will score ~1000 more points on 3Dmark06. It has faster memory, a faster GPU, and more programable vertex and pixel shaders. It also uses less power (you would need a new PSU for the 7950GT). The X1950XT will even be a little better than the 7900GTX (though not by too much).
Take a look at this if you don't believe me. http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards....=467&card2=445

Re: nVidia 7xxx Series Cards...?
Decisions Decisions Decisions
Both companies make great prodcuts but which card gives you the most bang for the amount of bucks you want to spend is the question!
