Re: video card upgrade?
Hi,
Probably the best thing would be a new card. A new CPU wouldn't help that much. What graphics expansion slot do you have on your motherboard? And how much are you willing to spend on a new card. BTW, if you get an upgrade, you will need a PSU upgrade.

Re: video card upgrade?
Celerons are great efficient processors excellent for their value to perform office and basic multimedia tasks, although are awful at todays gaming. I would look into a new graphics card and like Matt mentioned a PSU is a must.

Re: video card upgrade?
What PSU is in the alienware? There is a good chance that Alienware took shortcuts on the PSU, and if it isn't a quality PSU like described in the PSU information and selection thread, then I would not use it on an 8600.
BTW, other good cards to look at are the X1650XT and the 7900GS.

Re: video card upgrade?
all i know is that it ran a 7950gt but he needs to upgrade as he get a 8800gtx
The only reason that my psu is not proforming well right now is it has one 18a rail not being used by the pci e(video card power connector)

Re: video card upgrade?
Then waiting for the 8600 would be a good idea. But I would not use the PSU in the Alienware unless it is a quality PSU mentioned in this article: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...selection.html The Antec TP-3 Trio 650 w is a good choice for your system.
