Red Faced video card problem? not sure

okay, im new here so, em, dont get angry at me for posting at the wrong place, im not even sure its a video card problem, but ok, on with my problem.

recently i had a problem with my windows installation, so i had to format and install it again.

now here's the problem, everything works great, except to the part to where i want to play a video. if i play it then my screen goes black (for a second or so) and my computer freezes, i have to ALT + CTRL + DELETE and then close the process of my video player. after that if i try to run any 3d game, it just crashes saying directx suffered from a fatal error

i have tried reinstalling directx 9.0c, it didnt help, i also tried reinstalling my graphic card drivers, that didnt help either.

i have noticed something weird in "dxdiag" though, before it crashes, under the tab "Display" it says AGP Texture acceleration is enabled, after it crashes its "grayed out". oh and, if i run the tests in "dxdiag" my screen just goes black when it enters full screen tests, and then my monitor turns off, and i have to reboot.

yeah this might help too, i am using a Club 3D Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT (never overclocked) on a AMV X1900DS LCD screen. my other computer specs the following:
Epox Nforce 2 motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ @ 2.1GHz
1024MB RAM
250GB HITACHI HD

i hope you guys can help me, i've also tried searching for my problem on google to no avail, so i guess, you're my last hope

Re: video card problem? not sure

Hi,

Try installing the latest stable nVidia drivers (the version 84 drivers) from this thread: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...a-drivers.html
Uninstall your current drivers, reboot and go into Safe Mode, install the new drivers, and reboot normally.

Re: video card problem? not sure

You need to install video card drivers in Safe Mode. Otherwise, Windows will install a generic driver instead. Make sure you uninstall the current driver before you go into safe mode.

Re: video card problem? not sure

Do you think the original reason you had to format and re-install windows could in any way be related to your current problem?
