Hi everyone;
I am planning to get a new video card, because unfortunately, i couldn't run my windows vista on my computer. But the problem is that i dont know whether im supporting AGP or PCI, and my current video card is intel extreme graphics(64mb) and it's attached to my motherboared... So the question is how do i know if i have AGP/PCI slot????, and how do i install my new video card??? i mean; if i insert my new vid card into the brown slot, in this case ill have two video cards working at the same time, or is it possible to cancel my old vid card???? I have arround 170$AD in my pocket, so do you think i can get somegood video card?? my regards to everyone. & Anyhelpis greatly appreciated.

Video card problem!
Hi guys, I am sorry to post aproblem everyday(lol), but you will get used to me by the way.
Anyway, I bought a new Video card, which is much better than my old Vcard, and my new one is Ati Radeon 9800 pro-256MB, but this sux, becouse i havent seen any new features or any difference on my pc. My 3d program is still laggy, my games as well, it's really the same, it's like i havnt changed my old Vcard,,, no no there's much more>>>> and the bad thing is my pc turned to a slow turtle, it's now takes much time when restarting my windows, and afterthat, my whole windowsXP is alittle bit laggy than before, i really dont know what to do. I made sure that my old Vcard is uninstalled, I reinserted my new Vcard into the AGP slot again, i downloaded all the updates for ati radeon 9800 pro, but still the same. My Sys Spec:::: P4 Intel 3.06GHZ, 512RAM ATI 256MB WinXp HE So please guys if anybody has got this problem before please help me, and thanx alot for any respond...( I know this is supposed to be in Video Discussion, but i get much help in this room-sorry-). |

Hey,
First I would make absolutely sure that you have th most up-to-date drivers installed. Secondly, try doing a search on Google.com and you can find any number of ways to tweak XP to make it go faster. Regards, Brandon |

look at the side of your power supply and post the
brand wattage 12v+ line amps listed on the label you listed your original video card as this Intle 82845G Extreme Graphics 64 MB which is a onboard chip if you removed a actual card what was it check the onboard is disabled in the device manager if you removed a card and it was a nvidia card,check in add and remove that all nvidia has been removed

i made sure that i have all the latest updates, and more thing, when restarting my pc my pc monitor keep flashing(around 4 times) at start up, but after around 4 minutes everything goes back to normal and then i can use the computer(because it's slow at start up).
My power supply holds 450W I have 845GV-M3 motherboard, P4 Intel 3.06GHZ, 1 Sddram, st3 harddisk, ati radeon 9800 Vcard and onboard graphic card(disabled now), 3 fans (powersupply, cpu fan 80*80*25mm, and case fan), floppy disk driver, cd/dvd writer, audio card, Modem, network card, two LED's one infront of the computer, and one is attached to the case fan. I hope the problem is not from the powersupply anyway. And again all the problem is: since i installed my new video card, my pc turned to slowstart up, and the video card didn't make so much difference than before. I have all the updates and my old onboard graphic card is disabled and every thing is installed properly.
I tried something which is i enabled my old graphic card, and restarted my computer with two graphics card enabled and the reason was that my pc went back to normal and was fast!!!!!! weird!!!!! You have to know that my old onboard Graphic card has the 3d acclerator updates, and the chipset, and i think disabling my old graphic card would disable some important stuff. am i right???? |

You don't need 18 amps on the +12V line for a 9800 series video card. The series is about 5 years old, and my old 400 watt power supply worked just fine for years with a 9800 Pro. ATI recommends at least a 300 watt power supply for the 9800 series.

you may have got away with it five years ago,but five years ago you were not using power hungry other parts of the system adding to the draw
you need a min of 18a on the 12v+ line for what you are running
