Nvidia video card not found

My brother's computer had some viruses, but once cleared out the monitor failed to work. A couple frustrated nights later, I found that the nvidia video card stopped working, but the onboard worked. Just the opposite of how the computer ran before the infestation. Should I leave it alone because it works now? Should I disable the onboard and enable the nvidia? How?

a virus may have embeded itself into the driver of the nvidia and when you deleated it you deleated the driver
