6600GT freezing in games
Ok, randomly when im playing CS 1.6 it freezes and what ever sound is happening at the time repeats itsself. This lasts for about 10-15 seconds and then the game returns normally about 95% of the time, and crashes my pc the other 5% of the time.
When it freezes, CPU usage is at 100% and CS 1.6 is using a crap load of mem usage. This is really random.. sometimes it doesnt happen for a week, and other times it happens 5 times in half an hour. My setup: AMD64 3500+ Leadtek 128mb PCI-e WinFast PX6600GT TDH Asus A8N-SLI SE mother board 2 x 512 pc3200 corsair value ram I know 10+ other people who have this problem with the 6600GT and some lower grade 6000 series cards and i also have several friends with 6600's that dont have this problem. Anyone help to fix this would really be appreciated. Ive tried several different drivers, formatting etc and its still happening :/ please help:( |

I have a 550w power supply, here are the specs from the label on the side of it:
COLORSit Power Supply 550Watt Golden Silent AC Input: 230VAC 3A 50-60hz DC Output MAX: +12V +5V +3.3V +5VSB -12V -5V 16A 25A 25A 2.5A 0.5A 0.5A ATX12V (Version 1.3) P4 MODEL: 550X I have all the stuff i said running up in the original post + 3 8cm case fans and one 12cm case fan, 2 DVD drives and one hard drive. I am using a 20? to 24 pin converter on my power supply (the part that plugs into the mobo) Any ideas if the power supply could be the problem? |

I have the same kind of problem with my setup (in my sig), but it blue screens and restarts on me after your audio problem. After my last reboot, I got the window that asked if I wanted to send in the error report, so I did. It said that it was an unrecoverable hardware error, and the hardware it was saying, was the motherboard, cpu, power supply, and/or RAM. I just replaced the power supply with a brand new Antec 650 Trio, so i'm pretty sure that's not the problem. I'm going to replace the motherboard, cpu, and ram soon so hopefully that fixes the problem.
Hopefully this helps at all. Edit: I honestly wouldn't trust that brand of power supply. I got loads of advice on what is good and what is not, and OCZ GameXstream, Seasonic, PC Power and Cooling, Antec Trio/Truepower, and FSP Group are all great power supplies according to TSF.

Your power supply is sub par.
Read the links in my sig, use the calculator and add 30% to the load. Before you return this supply, http://www.colors-it.com/terms.php Try leaving the side off the computer with a fan blowing in to eliminate heat as a cause. Also what virus/spy protection is installed?

does that look good enough? also, as quite a lot of people have this problem im guessing its not a problem with the rest of my hardware, so how sure are you this should fix it? as 100 pounds is quite a lot to spend if it turns out i still have the problem:( |

Hei guys, it just did the same thing whilst i was watching a video on youtube, except it didnt come back and i had to reset my pc. Do you think that this could be to do with the sound instead of my gfx card?
