Mobo video memory limit
Just purchasd ASUS P4S800D-X; user guide indicates bios setting for the AGP slot memory can be set only as high as 256mb.
Unfortunatly, I had already purchased an (8X/4X) ATI Radeon 1600 Pro with 512mb memory on card. I haven't yet installed, but suspect I may not be able to take advantage of the full 512mb on card since BIOS limit is 256mb. Any comments in this regard appreciated. Also, the Mobo is 1.5vAGP slot. Because the video card is dual rated (8X/4X) I expect it wll work, but maybe only at the 4x speed. Or, is it possible to get BX a 1.5v? How can one determine what speed is assigned to AGP slot after installation? Any suggestions for a different Socket 478 Mobo if all this fails? Thanks |
