Newly assembled comp- no signal says monitor.
So I assembled a computer with friend today, everything seems to be at the right spot, at post it beeps, hdd spins, all fans turn and lights (LED and such) goes on. Only problem is that my monitor just refuses to show signals.
Here is my computer specs: Ultra 600w X-Finity Power Supply w/2 80mm (i am pretty sure this psu is good enough) Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE Corsair TWINX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz E.P.P. (so two cards) BenQ FP93GX 19IN LCD 2MS 700:1 ALOG DVI BLK Monitor <--DVI-D does not show signal. NZXT Apollo Blk ATX Mid-Tower Case w/Clear Side Intel Core2Duo E6600 2.4Ghz 4M 1066FSB Socket 775 XFX GeForce 7950 GTxxx 512MB DDR3 PCIe w/Dual DVI Seagate / 320GB / 7200 / 16MB / SATA-300 Hard Drive Sony DRU120C 16x DVD RW Burner I plugged the monitor through AGP on my other computer and it runs fine, but when i switch to DVI on the new computer it just doesn't detect signals, anything wrong here? Help! |

my dvd burner still receives power but doesn't pop out when i press eject, and also i noticed that the beep sound at start is not as the beep i am used to hear in my hp pavilion desktop and laptop, the beep sound is not as sharp and seems muffled. |

as long as it is a single beep it is probably the build of the speaker making it sound muffled plug another power lead into the dvd and see if it ejects if not try it on a power lead on another computer to see if it is the drive or your psu

The psu works, i know this because when i unplugged the (IDE Data) ribbon cable from the dvd burner to mobo it ejects again when i told it to. Does this mean something else is wrong? The IDE Data comes with the asus motherboard labeled HDD but fits snuggly into place.
i msged XFX and they told me to grab a dvi-vga converter and test it out to see if the gfx card send out any signals at all. Because my gfx card has silent cooling and does not include a fan i could not distinguish if its working or not =(. ill post more when i grab a hold of the convertor. |

you would expect bios beeps if it was not working
just because there is enough power to eject the dvd tray does in no way indicate there is sufficient power to run the video card how many ide ports on the m/b

This may turn out to be a total red herring, but when I had the same problem it turned out to be a faulty RAM stick. Replacing the stick cured the problem.

Something i noticed: the bios doenst beep on post, instead it seems to come from the HDD. I unplugged HDD power and there was no beep from bios. I have two ram, i tried basically all combos, 1 chip only, both in and different slots...etc, in fact now it seems like it does not beep even when theres no ram plugged in.
I was told that 500W PSU would do the job, so i bought 600W SLI compatible from ULTRA just to be safe, but my friend said it might be that my motherboard is not properly grounded or PSU doesnt provide enough power. I have my MOBO on those copper stands so they should be grounded. so far everyones being saying different things so i am qutie confused. I will try with the DVI-VGA cord then see if it will work with a PCI card. Keep those suggestions coming please! Thanks! |

you need to get the single post beep
set it up out of the case with cpu video ram speaker start it by touching the 2 pins on the m/b that the front button switch connects to on the m/b with a small screwdriver and see if you get post

I had the mobo on a solid cardboard box, hooked up both power on mobo, pair speaker through green socket, cpu and its fan on the spot, pcie video card connected to power and mobo, and 1 chip of 1gb ram. I used a small screw driver to jump start but guess what, no post beep or anything.
Does this mean my mother board is screwed? |

Re: Newly assembled comp- no signal says monitor.
I may too late for the party, however, I just built a computer this weekend with an Asus P5N-E Mobo and when I started it up I had the same problem. All the fans ran, the Mobo light lit and it seemed as if everything was working with the exception of the monitor telling me that no signal was detected. After a little investigating I realized that I hadn't connected the 6-pin cpu controller plug from the psu to the Mobo. Problem solved. I hope you can fix your problem.
