Newer drivers fail to install?

Yeah, I tried to download the updated drivers for my XFX GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDR2

The XFX site gave me two options, one for windows 64bit and one for the regular XP.

The product codes given matched what I have.

When I try to install the drivers, I get an error saying "The NVIDIA Setup could not find any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware"

and then it closes itself.

I have the drivers that came on the CD installed...

Help!

My System

Uninstall the Nvidia/Forceware entries from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, reboot into VGA mode, disable antivirus, install Forceware 84.21 and reboot.

The latest version compatible with the 7600GS is Forceware 93.71 but the earlier version is more stable.

I did exactly as you instructed and I still get the same error about not having the correct drivers on my computer. The install program for the drivers simply shuts itself off afterwards. Please help.. :(

I am stuck in the huge display mode, and now I am having trouble finding my disk that the drivers came on...

d/l the 93.71 from koalas link and and save them to the desktop

in the device manager uninstall the card
reboot tapping f8 and choose vga mode
when windows finishes reinstalling the card
disable a/virus
