Nv4_disp
sometimes when i start up many programs at once, or something like that, the computer becomes slow and freezes and ending up with an blue error screen, saying NV4_DISP caused it, then it restarts and becomes normal again.. is it possible to fix that? and why does that happen?

I've never seen an Nv*... file that wasn't an Nvidia driver file, so my first guess would be that your video drivers are corrupt some how. If you know you have and Nvidia video card, this would further corroborate the theory.
Check Device Manager to confirm, look for yellow and/or red flags. A first troubleshooting stop would be to uninstall the device, and then run "Scan for new hardware changes" that may fix it right there. Failing that, uninstalling the nVidia software via Add/remove would be a second steop. Then reinstalling the nvidia software. If that doesn't workreport back, also give some basic information such as CPU & motherboard, your AV solution and also confirm that all your virus definition files are updated, as well as if you are current on Windows Updates. Similar-sounding problem & possible solution: http://byronmiller.typepad.com/byronmiller/2005/10/stupid_windows_.html Any new software or hardware changes ? Any other symptoms or additional information may be useful. Last edited by Girderman; 12-20-2006 at 10:05 AM. |

You should have an install disk that came with the computer or video card.
If not, ID your vid card model and download the latest driver installation software package for it at the nVidia web-site, support section. |
