DirectX 10 Question

Is DirectX 10 only available for Windows Vista, or are procrastinators such as I going to be able to use it for Windows XP? I would love to play games like Crysis, but just about a the last thing I want to do is purchase a new operating system. Any help is greatly appreciated!

crysis will run on WindowsXP. there is a DirectX9(someletter) wich will supposedly add support for directx10 games to WindowsXP but that is not fully confirmed. If that directX9 update doesnt come then no dx10 games will be working on XP unless they are dually supported by dx9 and dx10.

directx 9L will do that. and dx10 isn't backwards compatible :'( but the cards are :D

:( makes me sad some uber leet programmers better get to work and make a directx10 emulation for XP
