problem with sli..
well i have just put in my second video card, and here are the problems im getting... its mostly in half-life 2 when this happens, but almost every game i start up, in the menu screen, there is always a point where if my mouse gose below this point it disapeares.. also in half-life 2, when i get near water the top half of my screen renders the water diffrently then the bottom, also the top half of the screen makes the background buildings and stuff go squarey but the bottom half looks fine...
now im jus wondering, should i re-install my nvidia drivers now that i have put in the second video card? or dose anyone know what this problem is? Thanks Mike |

Hi,
Do you have the 12 volt EZPlug connected to the motherboard for sli? I know that in my A8N-sli deluxe, you have to have that connected for sli, but not for a single card.

Hi,
I don't know your board, but my board has a little thing called the EZPlug which you connect a 12 volt line to put more power to the video area when you use two cards. It is located not too far from the video cards and just takes a plain old 12 volt line from the power supply. I am not where I can look your board manual up right now, but will be where I can later this evening. Mine is an Asus A8N-sli deluxe board, so I thought yours might also take that one.

Hi,
I don't see an EZPlug connector on yours, so maybe they approach that another way. Anyhow, here is an basic explanation of the slots you have: The different ports are for different things, why have something that will work fine on PCI-e x1 on a PCI-e x16 slot? Save that x16 slot for the more data hungry cards. It just means it has more lanes for bandwidth. Ideally all nominal PCI cards would soon become PCI-E x1. Here is also a link that might do a better job than I can explaining this: http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/index....641784313;pp;6 I don't think it would harm anything to reinstall your drivers, but not sure that is the issue at this point. Also, wanted to check, have you gone into the BIOS and set it up in there for dual cards. Many of those boards in the BIOS setup menu have a choice of: NORMAL AUTO SLI The setting is usually recommended to be set at Auto, but why not give the SLI a try and see if it helps you? Some of these boards are picky.

Hi,
Mine is under the "advanced area", near the end of that section.
