Problem with Gainward 7600GS
Hello There,
I have purchased the grafic card 76o00GS in order to be able to run 2 monitors. However the system is not stable with this card. Games like the Flight Simulator 2004 make after a few seconds of operating time to crash the whole system (total freeze), the same happens when sliding the slide bar on the righr of any window. I suspect faulty settings, but I do not know which. Does anyone know this problem? Thanks Heli |

Hi,
As cconner said, the first thing we need is your system specs. Please read "Posting System Specs" in my signature for details on what we need to know and how to find it.

The data of the power supply:
overall Power: 230 W +3.5 V 14 A 105 W +5 V 21 A 105 W +12 V 9 A -5 V 0.5 A -12 V 0.8 A + 5 Vsb 1 A No, the lockup occurs also in normal operation, for instance when sliding a scroll bar up or down. Heli |

That power supply is nowhere near enough to power a 7600. Read "Power Supply Info" in my signature - it contains very important information about what size power supply you need and why. It is a long thread, but it is very important. It also includes recommendations for quality power supplies in various ranges.

Problem with Gainward 7600GS
Hello everybody who answered!!
Thanks a lot for your help. Ok, it's the power supply .... I should have thought of that. A new one is already ordered, after I devoured the tutorial supplied by Indoril Nerevar, it is very comprehensive. So please keep the thread open, I want to report after the new unit installation. Thanks again Heli (Southern Bavaria, Germany) |

You didn't tell us what power supply you ordered!
Let us know how you go with it. Hopefully the power supply is the only problem - if you read the NVIDIA Drivers thread in my signature, you'll see that there are other potential problems.

Problem with Gainward 7600GS
Hello there,
I ordered a 500 Watt Unit made by THERMALTAKE, the strongest I could get here by mail order. Due to the holidays I won't have ready to install before beginning next week. The remarck on the problems with NVidia drivers is highly appreciated. Thank you all. Heli |

Thermaltake make good units (I use one in my system), but they're nowhere near the best around. However, you should be fine with that one. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
