I think my vid card might be dying..?..
I don’t know for sure but here are the signs.
About 2 weeks ago my computer started going black for a second as if it were going to change the resolution (it didn’t). It happened whenever I right clicked on a video file, went to the nvidia display (right click-->nvidia display-->Compaq 7550) or when going to the advanced setting in the display properties. I noticed at the time it started showing what used to be called my "Compaq 7550" monitor as the "default Monitor" and when I right click on a video file at the bottom of the menu it says "play on my" --> "analog display", that has never been there before either. I thought it might have been some kind of conflict between my agp nvidia 6600gt and the pci tuner card I had, so I took out the tuner and agp card, blew out the little dust that was there and put the agp card back in and it worked. Just today though it has the same default monitor and analog display, going black for a second, all that stuff but I don’t have the tuner card in there any more. Also when I play bf2142 sometimes the screen goes black with maybe the outline of a few buildings, and then it goes completely black. It stays that was for about 10 seconds and comes back most of the time, but sometimes I have to restart the comp. Also when I play the Sims 2 the screen starts flashing blue as if the game background is the only thing I can see and it’s flashing that color and another similar color. So today when I noticed the problems again I took my computer completely apart until I had an empty case and cleaned everything and put it all back together and nothing changed. I also uninstalled all the nvidia drivers I have used driver cleaner pro and restarted the comp, installed the latest mobo and vid card drivers from the nvidia website (also tried the optimized drivers) and still no change. Also whenever i play vid files now the screen is really dark. Help I have AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @2.2ghz nForse2 Soltek SL-FRN2-L mobo 1gig pc3200 samsung ram nvidia 6600GT AGP vid card with vivo new Silent Boost heatsinc/fan 500watt power supply 2x80gig hdd 3 fans to exchange air, 2 out in the back and one coming in from side |
