Everquest2 screen 'hiccups' in Windows mode
Hey guys,
I recently upgraded to a new BYO system. Running a Duel Core Intell Processor (2.4 Ghz) now with a Asus PB Deluxe Motherboard and 2 gigs of Ram. (Nvidia Geforce 6600). Anyway, when I play EverQuest 2, the game looks beautiful and plays beautiful at High Quality... finally. No lag whatsoever. Except!!!! when I run it in Window mode. In Windows mode now, the screen hiccups along. Meaning, if I'm on horseback heading towards some mountains, the mountains jolt towards me every 2 secs, like the screen is refreshing. If my pet is running behind me, he seems to stop running every 2 secs, and then warp right behind me again. Again, this only happens in Windows mode (with the system tray and top blue menu bar visible). Now, on my old system, I never had this problem. I always played in Windows mode due to Ventrilo. So this is a Windows Display and/or Video Card glitch. Not a gaming one. I've downloaded all the latest driver for the Nvidia Geforce 6600. My refresh rates are set to 60hz in both the game and in the monitor settings. My resolutions match in both game and Windows display setting. So I really can't think what else would be causing this. Any ideas? |

Do you have this problem using NVIDIA ForceWare v84.21 instead of the new v90 series?
Take a look at our NVIDIA Drivers thread here and see if this helps. |

Bah, been trying to download that earlier update driver file you linked to for about 30 mins now with no success. The mirrors all download a part of it, and the main download page just doesn't work. Not even one percentage of the download takes.
Anyway, while I was doing this on my laptop, I switched back over to my gaming computer (desktop) and rebooted the game. But this time, when I loaded it up, the entire screen went blue. Like a patterened blue tho. Almost like one of the default blue wallpapers Windows give you. I had to manually reboot my computer to get rid of it. |

Sitll no success with downloading that older driver. But a guildy just figured this out for me. He says that it has to do with my processor. That Everquest 2 isn't yet fully compatible with dual core processors, and when run in Windows mode, this causes the screen stutter.
Has anyone else heard about this? |
