ATI X850XT PCI-E Platinum Edition Noise
I am looking to purchase a ATI x850XT Platinum but I am wondering if the fan is noisy due to the sacrifice of a 2nd slot for the heatsink. People have told me the fan runs at 5400rpm around and on load you can clearly hear it without even sticking your head near the case. I am a quiet fanatic and I was wondering if there are any other quiet solutions other than modding it / going with Nvidia / I want a cooling convention like the ATI X850XT. Thoughts/Opinions?
Thanks |

The X850XT PE fan can be a bit noisy and some are bothered by it, but with 4x 80 mm fans running I don't think you will notice it that much if at all.

please dont start a question in another persons post but ill just answer both with one hit.
the nvidia 7600GT has a passive card solution and in performance is similar to the x850 if not a small tad better due to it supporting SM3. id say if ur a quiet freak dont get the x850 as it is noisy ! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125025 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121016 i have an x1600pro pcie 512mb and its extremely quiet the x1650pro passive is the same as the x1650pro so just look for a review for that and they have been performing pretty well due to the upgrade of core speed and memory to ddr3.
