New vid card issues
So i just replaced my geforece 4 ti 4200, with an apollo geforece 6800 (agp) Now, when I switch on the power, all I can hear is a very loud whining/constant beep. Any idea what is up with this?
Ok, I just looked at my card, and it apears as though its not getting enough power because the fan on the card is struggling to start up. My power supply is currently set to 115v, but there is an option to go to 230v. Im not the most knowledgeable person about computers, but would it be safe to change this? |

That series of card requires external power because the AGP bus does not provide enough wattage for the card to run. Have you tried plugging one of the power supply molex connectors into it? If you have, is your power supply powerful enough? Its guaranteed your new video card consumes more power than anything in the GeForce 4 series.

Please read "Posting System Specs" in my signature, and post your system specs for us - most importantly, the power supply. I'm inclined to think your graphics card is not getting the power it needs.
