Upgraded video card - Videos only display when hardware acceleration set to none

I upgraded from a Radeon 9250 to Geforce 6200 and for some reason, when I try to play videos, all I get is a black screen unless if I set the hardware acceleration to none. I tried reinstalling my divx/xvid codecs which didn't help. Any ideas?

Send a message via AIM to StaticInMyHead
Well since you made the move from an ATI card to an Nvidia card, you might want to make sure that none of those old ATI drivers are still lingering around.

Download the driver cleaner program here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Securit...-Cleaner.shtml

You can find the latest version of Driver Cleaner at the official website:

http://www.drivercleaner.net

A good idea is to run the standard ATi uninstall utility then run Driver Cleaner.

You can find the latest stable version of NVidia ForceWare drivers from the following link, which is v91.31 (WHQL Certified):

Actually, the 91.31's are very buggy, and may cause you problems. I recommend you use the older 84.21's instead.

If the above suggestions don't help, read "Posting System Specs" in my signature, and post your full specs for us.

A very good fact to take note of. How they got WHQL certified is beyond me.

I cleaned out the old ATI drivers, didn't help at all =\ I'll try downgrading my drivers next - thanks for all the responses by the way, I hope to get this problem fixed soon.

Edit: Downgrading worked, thanks much for all your help
