GeForce 6800XT fried?
A month ago I had a bad PSU that fried my first 6800XT. I was, and currently still under warrenty for it, so I sent it back in and got a new vid card. I replaced the PSU and everything was working fine.
Two days ago my computer just suddenly shuts off. I try to boot it up, but there's nothing on my monitor. The monitor button light just blinks as if it's not connected to the tower, or the tower is turned off. Sometimes when I wait a minute or two I can hear the Windows Login music, other times there's nothing. My computer usually makes 2 beeps when it's in BIOS, but not even half the time does it make the beeps. Is this a motherboard problem or a video card? I've previously done what you've said (a total of 4 times). The heatsink fan works, but it seems theres no connection between the monitor and mobo. I've tested a different monitor with the vid card with the same result. My friend says it may be the PCI slot on the mobo, but I have no way of testing it. My mobo only has a single 16x slot, and I can't take apart the computer I'm currently using. The onboard videocard connector looks the exact same as my monitor connector, having a bunch of little metal stakes, and not holes like the 6800xt has, so I'm guessing I have to buy some sort of special adapter inorder to test that..
