The game cube does the graphics processing so you wouldn't need it to go through the video card. If you want to play the game cube on your monitor you need one of these. And one of these. Apparently some new Game Cubes don't have the digital AV port to hook up the component video out, so make sure yours does before buying one.

Unless you have the All-In-Wonder version, you can not do TV-in. If you do have the AIW version, then it should have come with an adapter that you plug in and have component input, which you can hook up a gamecube directly to.

I have yet to dive in to this area very much yet, but I would reccomend checking out ACE Mega Codecs Pack, and use the Media player classic that comes with it. After installling ace I have never had problem playing ANY video.

For video in I just use the ASUS digital vcr, mainly for capturing video, for that you also need a wdm driver, ati's work (asus bases theirs on ati'
s anyway) and ati also has a digital vcr type program available.
What video card do you have? It might make it easier to find a program to use.

CyberLink (makers of PowerDVD) makes a product for TV-in. However, it is not free, and I don't know how good the quality is.

Another thing to note, is that monitors are set up differently from TV's and though monitors are higher quality (better resolutions), your quality will actually drop plugging into a monitor. The X-Box gets around this by using the HD connectors to plug into a monitor, but I don't know about a Game Cube.

One option would be to drop your resolution down to 640x480 (TV resolution) and see if that helps quality at all.

Oh, and thanks for letting me know that some non-AIW cards to support TV in!

If your monitor has multiple analog inputs, it might be easier to plug the Gamecube directly into the monitor.

I downloaded the ace mega codecs pack and in the pack the only one that supports the analog in is the vidcap player but this player will not allow me to increase to a fullscreen size. Right now i am using virtual dub to view the video but the quality is not the best so if you have and other suggestions i would be greatfull. I am still going to try the digital vcr.

What software came with your video card? from what I can find most cards that come with vivo comes with software to support it. I looked on asus's site and you can try this http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/vga.../ASUSdvcr2.zip or on ati's site I believe it is the multi media center (similar name) download. worth a try and they're free.
