Video card problem

OK, so i was seein artifacts on my non overclocked 6600gt left right and center so i decided it was time to get a new card. i went out and purchased a 7600GT.
i put it in, i get a long short short beep code, which from what i read is a video or mobo issue. but my comptuer still seems to boot after this point, but i still cant get video. this card, unlike my 6600gt uses only the white plugs, my 6600gt had a blue one on the left, and a right one on the right. i used the conversion plug that came with my new card the plug my monitor into my 6600gt with the white plug on my card. no video. since i had 2 new ones of these connectors, i tried them both without luck. so whats goin on??? main issue here is why my new 7600GT isnt working, plz dont say its faulty!!

What power supply are you using? Please post your system specs (see my sig).
