Best Brand
In October When i have some extra ££ ( only 15, money is a pain lol ) ill be buying a 9600XT or PRO 256mb. Im just wondering what the best brand is as there are a few to choose from. Are the Sapphire Cards any good, or are there any better? Ill be Overclocking the card too when i get it.....
Also while im at this ( Should be posted in CPU but mabye i can get a answer here ). * Socket MPGA 478B. * Supports Intel P4 FC-PGA2 (0.18 Micron, 256K cache, 400 MHz FSB), 1.4 to 2.4 GHz * Supports Intel P4 FC-PGA2 (0.13 Micron, 512K cache, 400 MHz FSB), 1.8 to 2.4 GHz * Supports Intel Celeron FC-PGA2 (0.18 Micron, 128K cache 400 MHz FSB) 1.9 GHz * 100 MHz (x4 = 400 MHz) data bus support (Quad-Bumped technology). Does this mean the Max CPU speed i could buy would be a p4 2.4ghz, and would any P4 (prescott/Northwood etc) thats a skt 478 ( which is up to 2.4ghz ) work on my GA-8SIML mobo? thanks for help. |

I've used Sapphire Radeon 9800's and PowerColor 9600 Pros. Both worked well for me. As for the CPU I don't have an immediate answer. I'm not an Intel fan so I don't keep up with the specifics on them.

If you get a Sapphire 9600XT, consider using something like ATITool to drop the clock rate while you're not gaming.
The fan that comes on it is the same one used on the 9550 and a few other models, but the core runs at 500MHz instead of 250MHz. That tiny little fan will be hard pressed to keep the core cool if it's running at full speed all the time. I'm going to toss a VGA Silencer R.3 onto my 9600XT to get around that along with some RAMsinks...provided they'll fit. |

I like Sapphires the best, and PowerColors are also good.
