Nvidia Geforce 4 MX 4000 Problem
Hi I'm having a problem with my video card listed above.
The problem is, when I play games or anything with a lot of graphic it will sometimes go to a screen with a lot of multi colored box like shapes and if I turn the monitor off and back on it says the card is in sleep mode and I end up having to restart my computer to get it working again correctly and then if I go back into a game or something with a lot of graphic it will do the same thing after a while.. Any ideas? Anything would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance. Also my OS is Windows XP Pro SP2 1400 MHZ Athlon Proc 4x AGP slot which contains card. |

it could be a couple of things from lack of power to a driver issue or the GPU overheating. you might have this option to set. using the display properties icon (in the control panel) under the settings tab>advanced see if you have an nvidia tab. there might be an option to check a warning for overheating. try the game again and see do you get any warnings before you get all the artifacts again.

This sounds most like a GPU overheat issue. I don't recall the MX4000 cards having an active (fan-cooled) GPU so maintaining a good supply of cool air will be essential. Aside from that, a good slot cooler will do the trick. I use one to augment the video card in my PC and it works great.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 4 MX 4000
It does have a fan on the GPU, there is nothing that shows the temp or warning for over heating and it stays a constant 60 degrees in the room where my computer it along with 2 case fans not including the power supply fan the temp is desent within the computer case, not sure what else to do the driver is the newest driver available from nvidia for the card and I have tried other drivers to see if it fixed the problem and reinstalled the current driver several times...
Any other info would be helpful.. |
